Wheels for Pugs

The Wheels Loan Scheme is a special initiative created to assist Pugs suffering from mobility issues, particularly those diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, spinal injuries, or other conditions that affect their ability to walk. Through the generosity of our amazing supporters, we have been able to purchase wheelchairs that can be temporarily loaned to Pugs in need.

These specially designed wheels provide essential support for the back legs, allowing Pugs to move around with greater ease and confidence. The result? Pugs who once struggled to stand can now run, play, and live their best lives once again!

Pugs are a beloved breed known for their affectionate nature and playful spirit, but they are also prone to certain health conditions.

One of the most common mobility issues that Pugs face is degenerative myelopathy, a progressive disease affecting the spinal cord that eventually leads to paralysis of the hind legs.

Other reasons why a Pug might need a wheelchair include:

• Herniated discs – A common spinal issue that can cause pain and loss of mobility.

• Neurological conditions – Some disorders can impact a Pug’s ability to control their legs.

• Arthritis or joint problems – Older Pugs often suffer from arthritis, which can make walking painful.

• Injuries – Accidents or surgeries can temporarily or permanently affect a Pug’s movement.

With the help of a set of wheels, Pugs with these conditions can continue to enjoy life with their families, getting the exercise and stimulation they need to remain happy and healthy.

• Your name and contact information

• Your Pug’s age, medical history, and diagnosis

• A brief description of your Pug’s mobility issues

• Any recommendations from your veterinarian regarding the use of wheels

We assess each application carefully to ensure that every Pug receives the best possible support. If approved, we will match your Pug with a suitable wheelchair and provide guidance on how to use it effectively.

Our Wheels Loan Scheme is entirely funded by generous donations from kind-hearted individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of Pugs with mobility issues. If you would like to contribute, there are several ways you can help:
