Our Pugs

  • Sophie

    Sophie

Sophie found herself in rescue at only six weeks old, so tiny and with a very severe respiratory infection. Since then Sophie has had BOAS surgery to help her, but she has laryngeal collapse. Her eyes need careful monitoring, she was diagnosed with Pigmentary Keratitis, as does her breathing. Sweet Sophie will need our life long support.

  • Axel Pug Sponsorship

    Axel

Axel was rescued from the meat market in China and miraculously saved. He was rescued with three other puppies who sadly passed away before they even got to travel to England. Axel suffered from an extremely bad skin condition, blindness, deafness, bad legs and a luxating patella. He will be in our care for the rest of his life.

  • Kira Sponsor a Pug

    Kira

When Kira arrived in rescue she was struggling to get around due to Pug Myelopathy and she really needed our help to help her live her best life. Thanks to very kind donations we were able to purchase a new set of wheels and now she is now living happily with her brother, Axel, who is another of our sponsored Pugs. Kira will be in the life long care of our rescue and will need help with her medical bills.

  • Neville

She hand-fed him every two hours and against all odds he survived. He faced multiple infections and bouts of pneumonia but nothing could beat him.

Throughout his life, Neville has had several surgeries to repair his cleft palate and he remains at risk of ongoing infections, meaning he has many trips to the vets.

He was rescued by Pug Life Rescue in 2015 when he was seven months old.

Neville is in the lifelong care of our rescue and we are asking for your support. Your sponsorship will help ensure he continues to receive the care and attention he needs to thrive.

  • Pug standing on rock

    Sanne

Little Sanne was rescued from a puppy farm in 2019 at 7 months old where she was waiting to be bred with. She was in a dreadful state.

She only weighed 3kg and was terrified of the world. She was suffering with Giardia, a nasty intestinal infection, which the vets felt may have been caused by Sanne eating her own faeces to survive.

Sanne now lives a wonderful life by the sea. She has been left with a raft of health issues which our charity supports - luxating patellas, hormonal problems and frequent stomach issues.

Sanne has the best care and is able to live life to the fullest. She runs on the beach most days, can jump really high despite her funny legs and is happiest snuggled with her pug brothers in front of the telly. Please sponsor Sanne to help her receive the veterinary care she needs.

  • Grace

Grace was rescued in 2021 at 12 months old with a vaginal prolapse and while pregnant. To save Grace’s life, it was necessary to sacrifice her puppies.

In March 2024 she suffered a second vaginal prolapse and upon operating it was discovered that her bladder was attached to her cervix. Another operation.

Grace suffers repeated infections from a nasty bacteria called pseudomonas; she had daily injections, repeated antibiotics and sadly, all to no avail.

Grace will need further medication and investigation, please support and sponsor her on her journey. She is such a sweet girl with acceptance of all she has been through so far and just wants to be loved.

  • Bertie

Bertie was surrendered into our rescue in 2024 at 11 years old. He is one of our precious wheelie Pugs and is in the life long care of our charity.

Since arriving with us, he has become one of our most treasured residents. As one of our precious “wheelie” Pugs, Bertie is in the lifelong care of our charity, where we are committed to giving him the comfort, dignity and love he deserves in his golden years.

Caring for a senior, disabled dog means ongoing veterinary support, specialist equipment and regular monitoring to keep him comfortable and pain-free.

Bertie’s wheels give him independence and freedom, but like everything, they need replacing as he grows older and his needs change.

Please consider sponsoring Bertie and helping him raise enough funds for a new set of wheels, as well as contributing towards his continuing medical care.

Your support will ensure that this incredible little dog can keep rolling forward, living life to the fullest and inspiring everyone he meets.

  • Prudence Pug

    Prudence

Prudence came into rescue in October 2025 at age 4. She had already had two litters in her short life. When she arrived, Pru weighed just 4.6kg, she was painfully underweight, with her ribs visible. She was hungry, anxious, and unsure of her new surroundings. But despite everything she’s been through, her gentle nature shines through. She’s the sweetest little girl who just wants to be close to her humans and new furry friends at all times.

A vet check has confirmed that Pru has cataracts in both eyes, leaving her with very limited vision. She relies heavily on sound to communicate and navigate her world. Once she’s regained some much-needed weight and settled into her new home, she’ll be spayed to ensure her breeding days are behind her for good.
The rescue also hopes to raise funds for cataract surgery, which could restore her sight and give her the bright, happy future she deserves.

Your support will go directly toward her veterinary care and her life-changing eye surgery.

Every little bit helps give Pru the second chance she’s been waiting for.

  • Pug on beach

    Newt

Newt has complex medical issues; he has muscle wastage and weakness in his back legs which is getting progressively worse. The vet believes that this may have been caused by some sort of brain injury when he was very young. Newt is able to walk but not for long periods - his back legs go into spasm and he is unable to continue.

The vet believes that this may have been caused by some sort of brain injury when he was very young. Newt is able to walk but not for long periods - his back legs go into spasm and he is unable to continue.

Newt has wheels which he uses sometimes and has a sling which supports his rear end so that he can enjoy getting out and about. Newt absolutely loves his walks and is happiest when he knows he is off on an adventure.

Newt is prone to urinary retention and crystals in his urine. This has to be very carefully monitored and managed.

Newt is a wonderful boy who lives a very happy life on the Welsh coast. He is a loving, sweet dog who, despite his various medical conditions, lives life to the full. Please sponsor Newt to help this rescue support Newt’s medical conditions for the rest of his life.
